Why fall is the smartest time to shop Vail Village
The summer racks are clearing out, the winter collections are just arriving, and the cobblestones are quiet enough to actually browse. Locals know offseason is when Vail's favorite boutiques mark down past-season pieces to make room for ski season.
It is also the best time to get real attention from the people behind the counter. Personal styling, boot fitting and custom orders are easier to book now than they will be in January.
Here is our insider guide to six Vail Village shops worth visiting this fall, from Solaris Plaza to Bridge Street.
The shops
Perch
141 East Meadow Drive, Suite 208, Solaris Plaza
The deal: Tiered markdowns across the sale section, with dedicated 30% off, 50% off and warehouse sale edits, plus an "imperfect" sale for pieces with minor flaws. Recent examples include a Max Mara jacket at $1,225 (regularly $1,750) and a Lela Rose cropped jacket at $300 (regularly $1,490). Online orders over $500 ship free in three days. [In-store fall promotion to be confirmed]
Perch got its name from its spot up on a "perch" above the street, and it has been a Vail Village favorite since 2012. The edit mixes established designers with emerging labels, and the team offers personal styling sessions by appointment.

Grey Salt
141 East Meadow Drive, Suite 205, Solaris Plaza
The deal: [Fall 2026 offer to be confirmed with the shop]
Just down the hall from Perch on the second level of Solaris, Grey Salt is Vail's go-to for modern menswear with a preppy, rugged edge, plus a growing women's selection. Owner Stacey Gillett curates labels like Rodd & Gunn for the guy who wants to look sharp from the trailhead to dinner. It is the easiest stop on this list for anyone shopping for the man in their life.
Shop: greysaltvail.com or (970) 763-5351
Overland Sheepskin Co.
1 Willow Bridge Road, Suite CS3, Solaris Plaza
The deal: [In-store fall promotion to be confirmed] Overland's online Sale Room covers sheepskin coats, boots, accessories and home pieces, and orders over $500 ship free.
Family-run since 1973, Overland is the place for shearling coats, sheepskin slippers and cowhide rugs. Fall is the moment to buy the coat before you need it, and the rugs and throws are an easy way to warm up a mountain home before the holidays.
Shop: overland.com/stores/vail-co or (970) 470-4127
Axel's
201 East Gore Creek Drive, Vail Village
The deal: Past-season pieces live at Axel's Outpost, the shop's dedicated sale collection, at the top of the steps at the Vail Village Inn (100 East Meadow Drive). The Outpost is open by appointment in the offseason, and the full sale collection is also online. [Current markdown levels to be confirmed]
Axel's has dressed Vail in Italian tailoring, Western leather and its own premium denim line for decades. The Fall 2026 collection is arriving now: washed leather, shearling, Italian cashmere and the shop's famous custom belt buckles. Open daily, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Shop: axelsoutpost.com or (970) 401-9770
Blitz Boutique
242 East Meadow Drive, Suite B, Vail Village
The deal: [In-store fall promotion to be confirmed] Blitz keeps a running sale section online and in store.
Owner Stephanie McCarthy has been part of Blitz since its early days and took over in 2020. Vail Daily readers have voted it one of the valley's best women's clothing stores three years running. It is the friendliest stop on this list for wearable, on-trend pieces, and the team will style you by text if you are shopping from out of town.

Pepi and Sheika Gramshammer opened Pepi Sports in 1968, and it is still one of the great Vail Village institutions. Fall is the best time for a boot fitting before the lifts open.

A few insider tips
- Shop the Meadow Drive loop. Perch, Grey Salt, Overland and Blitz sit within a few minutes' walk of each other around Solaris Plaza, so you can cover all four in a morning.
- Ask about the back room. Many Vail boutiques keep past-season pieces off the floor. A friendly ask often turns up more than the sale rack.
- Call ahead in the offseason. Hours shift between seasons, and some sale spaces, like Axel's Outpost, open by appointment.
- Book your boot fitting now. Shops are calm before opening day, and you will thank yourself on the first powder morning.
